Q: Who is responsible for bad checks?
A: Some auction companies do not pay the seller for non-sufficient checks and require you to try to collect payment. How can you collect on a check not written to you personally though?
It is Musick & Sons Auctioneers & Appraisers, Inc. policy to pay the consignor in full regardless of whether we get a returned check. If we accept a non-sufficient check written to us, we will pursue the issue without your settlement being delayed.
Q: Is the Auction Company paying the proper payroll taxes and state industrial on its employees?
A: The I.R.S. states that auction employees are not indent contractors and proper taxes must be paid on them.
Musick & Sons Auctioneers & Appraisers Inc. conforms to all state and federal taxing laws.
Q: If the Auction Company does not pay State Industrial, then what insurance do they carry on its employees?
A: Some auction companies do not pay keep insurance on its employees so if they get injured on your property. YOU PAY!
If one of Musick & Sons employees is injured on your property, each of them is fully covered with state industrial through our company's insurance plan. We provide this to help protect you.
Q: Where is the Auction Company's office located and what are its business hours?
A: Some auctioneers are not in the business full-time.
Musick & Sons is a full service auction company. Our business hours are 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. We also have full time employees available to answer phones and serve you during business hours.
Q: What level of education does the auctioneer and auction employees have that will help you bring the most exposure and professionalism to your auction?
A: Many auctioneers have little education beyond attending auction school.
Our auctioneers have all graduated from the Auction Marketing Institute (AMI) offered at Indiana University (the Hoosiers), and all have taken continuing education courses through out their auction career.
Rick Musick has almost 30 years of experience and expertise and is well known in his industry. So well known, in fact, that since 2002 Rick has been an instructor for the National Auctioneers Association's educational arm teaching auctioneers all over the nation about appraising equipment.
Earl Musick has obtained his real estate license and continues his education in the real estate field, keeping updated on the market trends and technology.
In addition, Rick and Earl have received several designations valued in the auction industry, such as Certified Auction Institute (CAI). Unique to our auction company is our full time marketing executive who has graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelors in Marketing & Advertising. She has won many awards for her creative marketing materials.
Q: What professional affiliations or organizations does the Auction Company belong to?
A: Musick & Sons Auctioneers belong to the National Auctioneers Association and regularly attend the annual conference and show. They are also active members of the Idaho Association of Professional Auctioneers (IAPA).
Rick is a past president and Earl Musick was the 2006 president of the IAPA. Both have served on committees and have acted as their regional representatives.
Other organizations that our company belongs to is the Washington Auctioneers Association, the Eagle Chamber of Commerce, and the Intermountain Multiple Listing Service.
By belonging to these organizations and being active participants Musick & Sons has the advantage of staying on the forefront of the industry with the newest technology and marketing tools. Our participation reminds us how we strongly advocate ethics, professionalism, and foreword thinking in our industry and it that ultimately means that can provide you with the best service available.
Q: Finally, do you feel comfortable with the auctioneer?
A: Musick & Sons, first and foremost wants to make sure that you feel at ease with us. Sometimes liquidating your assets can be a stressful event and we want to make that as hassle free and simple as possible for you.
